TAC Donate Equipment to RAWCS PDF Print E-mail

TAC Rehab Equipment 001

Community Service Chairman Doug McDonald who is the Senior Project Manager for Housing and Accommodation for the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has worked tirelessly over the past six months initiating an agreement between the TAC and RAWCS.

The TAC and Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) have signed an agreement that enables the TAC to donate surplus rehabilitation equipment to Rotary for use in Australia and developing countries across the world.

The TAC funds the cost of equipment to meet a client’s medical or rehabilitation need resulting from a transport accident.  The TAC does retrieve surplus equipment from their clients if it is no longer of use to the client (larger more expensive items).  The TAC contracted provider will then fix, maintain and store the equipment for reissue to other TAC clients.  Unfortunately, very little of this equipment is reused. This leads to a stockpile of surplus equipment that until now is dumped into landfill every 12 months; a considerable waste of resource.
