TAC Donate Equipment to RAWCS
Tuesday, 27 December 2011 10:17
Community Service Chairman Doug McDonald who is the Senior Project Manager for Housing and Accommodation for the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has worked tirelessly over the past six months initiating an agreement between the TAC and RAWCS.
The TAC and Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) have signed an agreement that enables the TAC to donate surplus rehabilitation equipment to Rotary for use in Australia and developing countries across the world.
The TAC funds the cost of equipment to meet a client’s medical or rehabilitation need resulting from a transport accident. The TAC does retrieve surplus equipment from their clients if it is no longer of use to the client (larger more expensive items). The TAC contracted provider will then fix, maintain and store the equipment for reissue to other TAC clients. Unfortunately, very little of this equipment is reused. This leads to a stockpile of surplus equipment that until now is dumped into landfill every 12 months; a considerable waste of resource.
The Rotary club of Central Geelong have donated brand new freezer to the Salvation Army Northside facility in Corio.
This freezer will enable the staff at Northside to freeze and store meals for families in times of need, even more so at this time of year when families are hit hard.
During the week of 24-28 October 2011, donors will receive 2- for-1 recognition for every online contribution of US$100 or more made to PolioPlus on www.rotary.org/contribute. We need your help to encourage members to donate online to make this promotion a success. You must be registered with Rotary’s Member Access prior to making an online contribution. Member access provides Rotarians with online services and other important features. To register for Member Access, please visit www.rotary.org/memberaccess.
