DG Jessie Harman Visits Geelong Central
Sunday, 01 August 2010 10:06
Build Communities, Bridge Continents
DG Jessie Harman's speech had three parts: First a thank you to our club, then the challenges we will face during the year and third some examples of what clubs do to meet those challenges.
Jessie thanked us for all the things we do, for our support of dal and compassionate Friends, for the Garrthalala project, the ChristChurch ramp, our support of ROMAC, the hosting of the GSE team and all the other things we do. She thanked us for making this world a better place.
Geelong Central Rotary has had the pleasure over the past 6 years to have the dal team visit us each year, for the purpose of recognizing individuals for their hard work and achievements, through the awarding of Pride of Workmanship Awards.
In March this year our Club (Geelong Central) was the Host Club for the incoming Group Study Exchange Team from Minas Gerais in Brazil.
The 5 team members Roberto Romano (Team Leader and Rotarian), Andreia M Araujo Drummond, Ludmilla Siqueira M P Amaral, Paulo Henrique Feliciano and Sharlyne Couri Carvalho were delightful and a lot of fun. Not to mention they spoke perfect English to our non-existent Portuguese!
